Where's The Freedom?

For some time we have been working on The CraigPages – Family Tree, Bible Studies and News. As we have done this our awareness has been raised to realize America is not the country our ancestors so thoughtfully laid out and planned for us. It is today only a shadow of what it once was. I personally feel blessed to have been born in America. I proudly wore the Navy uniform and would gladly have died in defense of her. Somehow this writer feels as though transported (SiFi) from the heritage I was so fortunate to be born in and found myself in a foreign land.

If recently you have had the occasion to watch C-Span and our representatives we have sent to Washington you may with me wonder if any of them would have stood a chance if their wits were matched with those leaders in Afghanistan and Iraq that we have tried to eliminate? I wonder!

Years ago I can recall hearing so many give a response to the habitual complainers about our country – "If you don't like it leave it!" Or, "Find a better country!"

Today we find that our country is being moved out from beneath our very feet. Oh no, I don't mean physically. I mean literally.

This site will give a platform for discussion concerning our great loss of freedom and liberty – our very way of life in every respect.

Not only have we lost a great country, we have lost a great faith. Spiritually we have been weaned away from our convictions, our beliefs and morals. We have been robbed of God. God has literally been stolen away from us. This may seem to you to be a shocking statement. I don't make it lightly.

This theft has occurred by our complacency and creeping overexposure to the immediate and continuos blanketing of media. We have become accustomed to hearing the most savage, immoral, horrifying, shocking and numbing news every moment of every day. We become bored when a day passes with nothing extraordinarily horrible having occurred. In boredom our children play computer games of killing. They wear headphones when they listen to their music. I now yearn for the day of the huge "Boom-Box" carried blasting away on their shoulder. At least then we knew what it was that they were listening to. A huge number of our children are rearing themselves – arriving home after school to an empty house. They, unlike this writer's experience, do not have a HOME to come home to. They are allowed to do whatever it is that they want to do – after all, when no one is at the house to offer guidance – why not do whatever comes to mind? Let your imagination paint the picture. You will likely see a portrait of the truth.

The most radical becomes the norm, and the traditional becomes the enemy. There is now a choice: a Contemporary or Traditional faith. FAITH! What kind of faith can be changed to your choice. And, if you are not deviant in any way you are a source of danger to others. They fear the person with scruples. Therefore, if they fear you they must demean you. They must place you in a ‘box' such as, "He/She is a conservative. Or you are a Christian, therefore you are a present form of danger to them.

If you believe in Borders, Language and Culture*1 . . . you are off base. You are politically incorrect. You are out of step with society. If you believe in Jesus Christ as the WAY to everlasting life, you are culturally wrong in every respect – in their eyes. If you stand for the Ten Commandments you are out of touch and are forcing your religion on others, or someone might be offended by that. Therefore, you stand back and keep your religion to yourself. If you do that – keep your religion to yourself, your convictions will be hid from others and therefore you are in danger of slipping into the lap of temptation (I recall one time when the Southern Baptist Convention held their meeting in Tennessee – the liquor sales were way up for the week). Why, because no one will see you as a Christian. Therefore if they don't know you are a Christian you can do anything you wish and everyone will think you to be quite normal. The more immoral one is in our world the more welcomed they are likely to be into society. This is such in our music, our entertainment, our churches and more shockingly in most people of today.

What is most amazing about it all is how so called Christians have allowed this culture-creep to envelope their whole belief systems. Toward the end of my ministry I began to identify two type of church goers: First, there is the so-called-christian, and then there is the "True Believers." There is a distinct difference. There are those that are called by His name, and then there are those who live by the precepts of Christ Jesus. There IS a difference. I preached my last sermon in 1992. Most likely I would have been ask to leave the pastorate had I not resigned and retired. I no longer could serve those who ‘called themselves by His name but denied the power!' My sermons became obsessed with the use of Scriptures like those saying, ‘Broad is the way that leadeth into destruction, but strait is the gate that lead to everlasting life . . . AND FEW THERE WOULD BE THAT WOULD FIND IT!' Some years ago I heard Billy Graham preaching a sermon where he made the statement that when you look out over the average congregation of any church one could figure that about [20%!] twenty percent of those sitting in the pews would ever make it to heaven, or were "true Christians (believers)." The statement was quite significant for that day back in the 1970's. It has become fact today. That is, if there are even twenty percent . . .

I recognize that the church is but a hospital for soul sick sinners. I also recognize that I am a sinner! – saved by Grace! There is but one way to eternal life and FEW there are that will find it. This was shocking preaching for most back in 1992. I can't imagine what it would be like to pastor a church today. If a church is doing God's work, how ever meager, it will be under attack.

So, we have covered ever so briefly the thesis of our discussion. I have brought to the forefront the political and the spiritual. We ARE losing our freedom – freedom our wonderful country used to stand for; and freedom from sin we used to enjoy in Jesus Christ our Lord. First, sin has crept up on mankind which was unaware that it was happening. Second, our freedom we cherish has been eaten away at an alarming rate and if some would have their rather – be taken away completely. Secularism has crept up and become the wolf in sheepskin clothing – that is, secularism has become socialism with a communist bent. Everyone wants to set the rules in THEIR OWN image – and no one needs to follow the rules of common sense, much less Freedom, Liberty and Salvation.

Every time they make something fool-proof they make a better fool.*2 Our Founding Fathers made for us a better country – socialism is making fools out of us all. Jesus Christ gave us the promise of Victory over sin – Satan has made fools of us by minimizing our understanding of what sin is. Sin somehow is no longer sin – just as Liberty is no longer liberty, nor Freedom is no longer freedom. Anyone who believes sin is sin is placed in the rubble of heap of the ridiculous. This degeneration of the human condition started in the Garden of Eden. Satan confounded Eve by mockingly saying to her that God really won't do anything – if it feels good do it. So, admittedly, our plight spiritually is not unique by any stretch of the imagination.

Doesn't it seem rather strange to other than myself that the only ‘freedom' our world seems concerned about is, "A Woman's Right To Choose" to KILL a baby? That is the time in which we live.

A prime example in our time is the Roman Catholic Church. They (someone) made the decision to turn their head away from sin – give it a pass. And just as a Christian (True Believer) becomes a target for the slightest miss-step, so the Catholic Church has become the target of Satan in a most profound way. And, Satan's accomplice is the willing media which he owns lock-stock-and-barrel. Every news channel (the alphabet soup stations), and I am afraid that this even includes the FOX News Network – we have been led for a time to believe that they are "fair and balanced," however, if you pay close attention it is a slow drift, loosening of its claim to conservatism and like a breakaway of ice, and like the Titanic, this drift of ice seems hell-bent in bringing down our country and our faith all in one horrific blow.

I write. I read, and I write some more. Then I think to my self, "Self . . . why do you even attempt to put this into words?" Self turns away as though to abandon the subject - - -- but, the still small voice in this writer's heart says, "Do it!" So I shall. It may well be that no one will even spend the time to read what we put into words here. But, I shall do as the small voice implores me to do. How can I not?

So, my friends, please give an ear . . . and respond in word or verse. We shall try to shine the light of truth on our plight . . . and, in some small way, make a difference. Every minute of every hour of every day of every year and for eternity – try the spirits to see if they be from God . . . You will be glad you did!, or, "It Will Be Worth It All!"
